  1. On my Oral-B toothbrush, a gunk forms on the charging plate under the unit itself. What is this stuff.

  2. I’d like to know what that is also.

    1. Are you referring to old watery toothpaste that has run down from the brush head and gathered at the bottom of the handle when on charge? Always remove the head from your toothbrush after each use to rinse it. Let it dry separately from the handle.

  3. There is water inside my Philips toothbrush, I want to try to replace my battery, it has a problem, I need a hx992 battery, where can I buy it

    1. The water has possibly damaged the circuitry so check for corrosion on the circuit board before fitting a new battery. The batteries for your Sonicare DiamondClean Smart toothbrush are available here.

  4. After a bit of stupidity, ordering the wrong battery, which was swiftly and helpfully resolved by Rob I have fitted a new battery to our Braun toothbrush.
The instructions are first rate and easy to follow.
I have just one small suggestion – when you’ve fitted the new battery and before you put the case back together try charging the new battery in ‘skeleton’ mode…. I had to disassemble mine again when it didn’t charge… I found a dry joint on the charging coil attachment and all is now well !

  5. Hi my Oral B io6 toothbrush ( type 3753) has stopped holding any charge. It displays 100% battery but dies after 1 minute of use.

Please could you advise me to which battery to purchase and how to go about installing the battery for this certain toothbrush.
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Morgan, batteries for the Oral-B iO tootbrushes such as your iO6 are available from us on our Oral-B iO toothbrush battery page. After removing the metal ring from around the top of the iO toothbrush you can use the charging base to unlock the bottom of the handle then slide the innards out.

  6. Hi,
We have OralB io toothbrushes and over time they have failed to charge efficiently until they have finally ‘died’.
We assume the batteries need to be replaced and these have now been removed from the brushes.
We have identified the 49 x 14 mm batteries on this site as suitable replacements but can you please advise if they are ready for use or do they need to be charged prior to installation and if so, so how do we charge them safely.

    Thanks.

    1. The batteries need charging after installation, not before. Once the toothbrush is reassembled as per our iO battery replacement guide you can then put the whole toothbrush on charge as normal.

      1. Thank you.
2 x replacement batteries now ordered.

  7. Hello. I have a question for you. Do you provide services for replacing an old battery with a new one if you are sent a toothbrush? My attempt to replace the battery myself ended negatively. In the places where the battery is connected, I partially damaged the contacts and I do not want to aggravate the situation, but entrust the repair and replacement of the battery to professionals. My Philips Sonicare DiamondClean HX93xx toothbrush.

    1. We don’t provide a repair service ourselves but there are some options on our toothbrush repair service page.
